Timber Shear Wall Design (part II)
This module is part of a two modules sequence. The prerequisite module (WEI Module 601) outlines the basics of shear wall design, whereas this module is focused on more complex examples with emphasis on design methodologies.
Upon completion of this module, you will become familiar with the design methodologies: Segmented Shear Wall design, Force Transfer Around Openings design, and Perforated Shear Wall design. You will be able to calculate demands on the various parts of walls with openings, size them for shear, and design the boundary elements and hold downs to resist the overturning. You will be able to check the demand/capacity relationship for it’s adequacy of design in the context of the NDS and IBC.
