WEI 122 Timber Design: Adjustment Factors Part I

by: Dr. Charles Chadwell, PE., Associate Professor, California State Polytechnic University, SLO

This subject is covered in two modules. The first module WEI 122 is 46 minute long and the second WEI 123 is 47 minute long. Both modules cover use of Adjustment factors in wood design. The text is available for download directly from the module by clicking on the clip in the right hand corner.

The WEI 122 covers ASD and LRFD Nomenclature and Definitions and is one of the two modules that cover adjustment factors for sawn lumber. The WEI 123 covers remaining adjustment factors for sawn lumber that were not included in. Both modules provide detailed information related to material strength adjustment factors that are applicable to sawn lumber both for ASD (Allowable Stress Design) and LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design).
